If there’s one thing I am most proud of in my career so far, it’s been helping people stay in their homes. But we’ve achieved A LOT along the way.
AS STATE REPRESENTATIVE
I was elected State Representative for House District 27 from 2002 through 2008. I immediately joined House Leadership and brought innovative, game-changing policy to Lansing on:
• Stem-cell research
• Motion picture and digital media
• Mental health
• Smoke-free workplace
AS COUNTY TREASURER
I ran to help the County brace for, and bounce back from, the Great Recession while boosting investment and maintaining the AAA bond rating. Today, I’m proud to be recognized as one of the state’s most innovative and effective County Treasurers.
Helped the county keep a AAA bond rating during the Great Recession when many counties fell into hard times.
Worked with the Farm Bureau to promote our county’s agricultural heritage and engage the agricultural community in urban farming.
Pushed to clean up thousands of abandoned and blighted properties to turn them into homes for families.
