On Tuesday, current Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner held a rally at Ferndale’s Rust Belt Market in front of a 300-person crowd to announce his candidacy, while Royal Oak resident and Democratic County Commissioner Dave Woodward is eyeing the top seat as well.
The top spot oversees an annual budget of over $854 million and a county workforce of nearly 4,300 full and part-time benefit eligible employees. A parade of Democrat supporters, including a video from State Representative Padma Kuppa (District 41), espoused speeches in support of Meisner, Sonia Acosta – president and CEO of the Pontiac-based Centro Multicultural La Familia and Meisner’s wife Sara.
